Move over Colorado and California! Microbreweries are quickly gaining popularity and credibility in Maryland. More than 30 microbreweries and brewpubs are currently recognized in Maryland by the Brewers Association. Another dozen are in the planning stages.
Bring your friends, and join Slow Food Baltimore as we celebrate the delicious fruits (er, grains?) of this local effort by raising several glasses with the rising stars of the beer world at Union Craft Brewing on February 10 from 3-6pm.
In addition to the phenomenal brews (first two are included) is a three course meal stationed throughout the space provided by critically acclaimed Birroteca. Each course is paired with one of Union's beers. See for yourself why the Baltimore Sun's restaurant critic said "In a year that brought Baltimore many promising new restaurants, this [Birroteca] was the biggest surprise."
This hops-fest is the first of several beer parties to come from Slow Food Baltimore (and is the perfect post-Super Bowl brew-ha-ha!). Dive into the world of barley and yeast with Union Craft brewmasters and beer afficianados.
Light Rail riders and bicyclists will be rewarded for their green efforts with a free third glass of beer.
Transportation will be provided at an additional fee from Washington, DC, Annapolis and Baltimore. Add it to your ticket and also get a free third beer.
Local? Good. Beer? Better. Food? Slam dunk.

A Baltimore Original
This generously hopped pale ale is a strike in your mouth! Brewed with lots of Pacific Northwest & New Zealand hops this beer is ten frames of big citrus and tropical fruit aroma and flavor. A strong malt backbone rounds it out and makes this pale ale a delight for the senses. The pins may be small but the flavor is huge! In our town, we roll Duckpin-a true Baltimore original.
A Brewing Tradition
This German-style Altbier is our nod to an old world, old school ale. The word “Alt” is German for “old”, and refers to the traditional style of brewing before lager yeast was discovered. Balt is a dark, copper colored brew with a creamy head, a gentle bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Prost, Hon!
A Champion of Flavor
This crisp clean dark lager begins with hints of roasted coffee beans and rich chocolate but showcases a surprisingly light body and mouthfeel. This Schwarzbier (German for Black Beer) is moderately hopped with Noble German hops that complement the delicate malt backbone. A true champion of flavor, this beer is a delight for the senses. Always bet on black and have a Blackwing today!
Winter is here. It's Snow Pants season.
Snow Pants Oatmeal Stout is an 8% abv, full-bodied ale packed with flavor. This jet black beer warms the palate with the roasty chocolate flavors of rich dark malt complimented by a gentle, creamy body from a hefty dose of oats. A generous addition of Cascade & Columbus hops provides balance and a bit of a piney character to this tasty winter brew.
